Time for an update
Update since closing Aero Australia
The final issue of Aero Australia was published in December 2019 to the dismay of our loyal readers. Since then so much has happened in Australia, the world and personally. We’ve had an extremely hot summer in 2019-2020, a horror fire season, multiple dust storms, a long drought, floods, Corona virus bringing lock downs, border closures, hand sanitizer, social distancing and masks. Stewart and Wendy hope everyone has survived COVID-19 and other health problems and is enjoying the first month of 2021.
It took many months to wind up Aero Australia in 2020, not assisted by lock downs and closure of businesses. We refunded all the remaining funds on subscriptions. Stewart and Wendy found themselves ‘lost’ without the routine of preparing Aero Australia and speaking with readers and members of the aviation community. Stewart resorted to FlightSim and writing his memoirs to begin with. Wendy headed into the garden to begin the battle to tame sixteen years of neglect.
Health
Over the past year both Stewart and Wendy have had medical issues including surgery. Stewart had an aneurysm in the femoral artery behind his right knee which had to be ‘fixed’. He’s still in recovery phase from this extensive surgery. Wendy had a basal cell carcinoma cut from the left side of her face. Thankfully all clear after the surgery and it has healed beautifully. She joked with specialist that she needed the other side of her done to make the ‘lift’ balanced (joke). Other than that we’re both well and back working.
What’s New

First new product is two book volumes of Made In Australia. Stewart has updated where necessary the aircraft entries originally published in early issues of Aero Australia. Mat Clancy, our designer, has converted these colour layouts to EPub format. We’ve been testing these files with friends on various devices and platforms. Our experience shows that this format works best in Adobe Digital Editions software which is FREE and available for Mac OS and iOS; and Windows and Android operating systems. On a computer/laptop you may read the books in either single or double page layout. Double page works best for our aircraft opening spreads as it did with Aero Australia. The books will be released on this site soon.
Stewart is working on some other books which will be released as soon as they are ready. We are keen for the aviation events to begin this year as we’re missing seeing flying and good friends. We will be attending the Temora Aviation Museum’s first aircraft showcase 6-7 March. We hope to see you there.
