Royal Australian Air Force is supporting this weekends Air Venture Air show in regional New South Wales.
A F/A-18A/B Hornet aircraft from 2 Operational Conversion Unit based at RAAF base Williamtown will perform a handling display to support the air show held at Parkes.
The Air Force Balloon from Central Flying School based at RAAF base East Sale will also offer limited opportunities for event participants to experience tethered rides.
2019 will be 2 Operational Conversion Units last year operating the F/A-18 Classic Hornet, as the squadron will move to Luke Air Force Base, Arizona in the United States as they transition to the F-35 Lightning II from the start of 2020.
F/A-18B Hornet A21-116 was painted in a special Tiger scheme in December 2018 celebrating the last year of 2 Operational Conversion Units classic hornet operations, it also won the Royal Australian Air Forces Chief of Air Force award for best military aircraft on display at this years Australian International Airshow.
2 Operational Conversion Uint has been operating the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18A/B Classic Hornet for 34 years, the first two RAAF F/A-18B Hornets (A21-101 and A21-102) arrived in Australia at RAAF base Williamtown in 1985.

TIME: 9:00am–4:00pm: Air Force Balloon tethered rides (weather permitting)
1:30pm: F/A-18A/B Classic Hornet aircraft handling display
VENUE: Parkes Regional Airport, NSW
