Australian Defence Force Academy Open Day 2019.
This Saturday the 24 August The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) is throwing open its doors to the public, with an open day from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
The Open Day provides prospective trainee officers, parents and the local community the chance to visit ADFA and learn more about the Academy and the Australian Defence Force.
There will be a number of Australian Defence Force assets on display for the public to get up close with, being able to talk to defence personnel about their roles within the Army, Air Force and Navy.
Prospective aviators of the future will be able to talk with pilots from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Basic Flying Training School, as they discuss what it takes to become a pilot in the Navy, Army or Air Force.
Flyovers from the Royal Australian Air Force will be conducted by the Pilatus PC-21 from Central Flying School at East Sale, a C-130J-30 Hercules from 37 Squadron and a Hawk Mk.127 from 76 Squadron all providing handling displays.
The C-130 Hercules will provide two displays at 10am and 1pm. The RAAF Balloon will also be conducting tethered flights if weather conditions are suitable.

The Royal Australian Navy will be providing an exciting display of Navy Clearance Divers fast roping from a MRH-90 Taipan helicopter, a technique faster than abseiling.
Defence and University staff will be providing careers and course information. Navy Midshipmen and Army and Air Force Officer Cadets will also be available to talk to you about life at ADFA.
They can give a first hand account of their military and academic studies and experience.
